The UOW College Hong Kong (“UOWCHK”), currently also named as Community College of City University (“CCCU”), is widely acknowledged as one of the leading institutions of its kind in Hong Kong, providing quality tertiary education for about 6,000 students. The College offers a wide range of Associate Degree (AD) programmes, a Diploma in General Studies, and International Language Proficiency Tests with preparatory courses. In association with the University of Wollongong (Australia), the College offers top-up degrees for associate degrees or higher diploma graduates. It has two well-provisioned campuses in Kowloon Tong and Kowloon Bay, with library facilities for all students. With about 220 well-qualified and dedicated staff, the College is highly regarded for its committed teaching focus, its rigor in quality assurance and its emphasis on the whole-person development of students. The College has applied for Cap 320 registration status and expects to offer bachelor’s degree programmes in September 2019.
Appointee will be responsible for (a) teaching courses in the area of Modern Chinese Literature and Hong Kong Literature and Chinese culture. Publication of creative literary writings would be an advantage; (b) conduct research, publish research results in referred academic journals, and attend conferences; (c) programme administration and course development; (d) assisting in the development of programmes at different levels.; (e) taking up administrative works at the College level; and (f) developing and coordinating extra-curricular activities for students.
Applicants must (a) have a PhD Degree in Chinese, with at least three year’s experience at tertiary level (b) be a Native Cantonese speaker with fluency in Putonghua and good English; (c) have evidence of good feedback on teaching.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for one year. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes, where applicable.
